A sample letter as to what your letter to the County Commissioners might look like.

A neighbor copied me on her letter to the County Commissioners. I thought I'd pass it on.

County Commissioners :

I am writing to ask that you help take care of our Durham County schools. With the recent budget crisis, I know you have many hard decisions to make. As a property owner, I am willing to pay more in taxes to support the schools. The children of Durham are our future. We need to make this very important investment in them and their education.

Please do whatever you need to do to help support the Durham County schools.

Gratefully yours,

There is a walk to support DPS tomorrow, Friday May 21st at 4pm. The walkers are asked to wear the color red and show support. I would like to invite anyone who is interested to join us at a rally to save teachers' jobs this Friday afternoon. We will meet at the Durham Public Schools Fuller building (511 Cleveland St.) and march to the county commissioners. We have an official march permit and are hoping for a good showing. Last Friday the Durham Public Schools delivered letters to about 300 teachers stating that they will not be able to remain in their current positions.

What: A rally to save teachers' jobs
Where: DPS Fuller Building (511 Cleveland St., Durham)
When: Friday, May 21st from 4-6pm
Who: Anyone who cares about the future of public education
